"Most often associated with brilliant, precious gemstones, the perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious. Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. Also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity, no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity.
"The most abundant hue in nature, the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. "As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today's complex world. This powerful and universally-appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors."

One of the best parts of Christmas shopping is coming across a ton of cool gadgets!!!
I believe this pen is just a prototype, but how cool is it!!! Scan the colour you want to use, and then go nuts.
Warm and comfortable capacitive-touch gloves with a Bluetooth headset built in!
Seriously want one of these!!!
Who doesn't want an electronic ruler! That's wicked!!!

Recreating an Inspiration Room (Special Edition!!)
Why is this a special edition you may ask? Because I am using this inspiration shot on my own house! And, I am going to share with you my plans on how to make my house, the house of my dreams. Pay attention Honey!!!
Look at this house. It's stunning. It's my dream home. And this is how I plan on making my home, look just like this. One day, one day.
Here's my house.
Now, I am in no way any sort of contractor. I have no idea if my plan is even feasible. I am well aware that it is going to cost me as much as a new house, but I don't care. It's my plan, and my dream, and this is my blog :P
Look, this is basically my house. 9 windows, front door - can you see it???
First thing - rip out portico and add a porch just like the one in the inspiration picture. The porch roof can extend from the garage all the way to the other side. Add 4 columns, and a railing.
The inspiration room has round columns, but I'd like square.
Luckily, I just got a new roof, so I can get the new porch roof to match.
There are a few railing options. But for sure I want the railing to be black, and the spindles white.
Next, I'd paint my shutters black and the window casings white.
Then, replace my garage doors in white.
Then I'll cover my porch floor in some white, PVC porch flooring. Cool stuff eh?!?!
It's plain ugly concrete right now.
At this point, I'd think about either painting the brick or siding it??
I'd love to just paint the brick white and call it a day. It would be a cheap fix, but I'd worry about "cheapening" the house. So, I've considered siding the entire home. It would cost a fortune, but my house would be the pimpest house on the block.
I love vertical board and batten siding.
I found these pictures on the Canadian Tire Christmas flyer!!
So that's my plan. I know there are lots of small details to take into consideration. The windows, soffit, facia blah blah blah. But I can sort all of those out with my contractor.
What do you think? I'm crazy eh!?!?

Decorating for Christmas - No Thanks!
Want to see my house all decked out for Christmas?? Get ready, it's pretty magical.
Yup, that's it. (errr, and it kills me to post a picture of my house with that horrible pink brick. I WILL be fixing that in the summer... paint, stucco, siding. I dunno, but it will be gone!!!!)
Anyway, I went through all of my old stuff and wrapped my white and blue lights around my tree, but then I took them down because they looked dumb. Then I bought a ton of white icicle lights and put the around my portico. Took those down too. They looked dumb. Now all I have is some junky white and blue lights in my tiny bushes, and my old twig boughs on my doors.
I really want to put the white icicle lights along my eavestrough, but it's so damn cold I don't want to climb on the roof or bust out the 30ft latter.
I also wanted to hang a green wreath with a red bow in each of my windows, but that means I'd have to buy 9 wreaths. Home Depot had some on sale for just $6 bucks, but I got there too late and they were all gone. Meh, forget it.
I've also been shopping like crazy for some nice new wreaths for my front doors, but seriously, I can't find a single one that I really like for a decent price. I am too picky.
So, I apologize neighbours, but unfortunately this is as good as it gets this year. Hopefully I'll be a bit more inspired next year.
I think my problem is 2 things. One, I've moved so many bloody times that I have never been able to fully decorate a house for Christmas. Therefore I've never added anything to my Christmas decoration collection. I had to throw out all of my garland one year (when we were on McCurdy crt.) because it was full of mouse poop. Last year I didn't even have decorations on my tree because we were in the Jarvis house waiting for our Waterford house to be complete. We've never been settled in a home long enough to really want to be festive. ~~tear~~
And, two, the exterior of this house still irritates the heck out of me and so I am so not inspired to decorate it. I really need to do something about that pink brick.
Next year folks, I promise.
On a happy note, here are some inspiring homes all decorated for Christmas. Me = Jealous.

Favourite Finds Friday
Some girls like diamonds, some like shoes. Me?, I like fabric. I become a gitty mess any time I step foot in a fabric store. Or, dare I get a 25% off coupon in my inbox for fabric.com. You should see my basement - filled with boxes of fabric!!!
I fell inlove with this Michael Miller Zoology fabric this season. Thank goodness Auntie Kitty loved it too, and I was able to get my niece and nephew their Christmas presents in this adorable fabric. I promise to share the surprise after Christmas!
Could the colours in this print be anymore beautiful?? I am such a sucker for a large scale print! I would cover a head board in this fabric. Imagine?? errr, beautiful!
Tonicliving.com |
And BTW, tonic living is by far, my most favourite online fabric shop!!!
#2, is fabric.com
I would take some Robert Allen fabric over any piece of jewellery any day. Bahaha, I'm such a loser!!!!
But look... can you blame me? it's stunning!!
