Finally, I can cook again!

My appliances are being delivered tomorrow! This is my 4th time buying new appliances.  Yeaaaa, we move a lot.
Anyway, I really wanted a kitchen with all the same brand.  I went with KitchenAid since they had the best priced gas-on-gas slide in range (I think it may be the same as my moms!)
I really wanted a plain bottom mount fridge, but got sucked into the pretty looking trio.  And I really wanted a Bosch dishwasher, but I didn't want to loose focus on my all-the-same-brand-kitchen!

So, here they are....

and, best for last....Laundry.  Ryan always wants the laundry team with all the bells and whistles, but c'mon...who's really doing the laundry???  This is all MY choice!!!  I hate front loading machines.  You have to buy pedestals to raise them up to a decent height which can set you back another $300-500 bucks.  No thanks.  And, they stink.  I really don't want to have to wash my washer.  I have never been failed by the Whirlpool duet team.  I got the brand new version and I couldn't be happier (unless they came in red :( ).  A top load washer with no agitator, so it acts just like a front load...but way more practical in my books.  And all for just $1500 bucks.

Whoa, Copper!

That is some shiny copper!
Check out my matching light fixtures.... I love them x 1000

The stairway going up to the loft.  This is where my stair post (from the previous post) will be.  I'll be making some burlap or linen lamp shades for the sconce.  It's a little too formal for me, but I like that it looked more like wall art, rather than a light fixture.

(Check out the moulding...xoxox)

Fireplace in action..... Still needs the stone and built ins below the windows.

A few interior pics

I've been trying really hard to get some great shots of the inside, but there has been so many people working inside the new house, I've just been taking a few quick snaps here and there.

Here's a shot of the foyer.  No light fixture yet, but I can't wait until it goes up.  The hardware will be black and I have asked them to redo the hinges black.  There is also supposed to be a half wall dividing the foyer from the dining room (on the left).  I icksnayed it, but I am second guessing myself on that one.  errrrrr.

One of my most favourite things.  My custom made stair post.    It's huge, and a piece of art on my eyes!!!! I had a matching one made for the kitchen support beam under the counter.  I LOVE it!!!

This is a quick picture of a window in the loft.  Check out the view!!!  Nothing but a pumpkin patch.  I love the country.
Looking into the mudroom/laundry room.  I wanted to take a shot of the outstanding moulding.  Not a great picture.  More to come....
Is it weird that I want to sleep in my kitchen and snuggle my range hood?

The office is attached to the Master Bedroom.  I left it open with an archway since there wasn't enough room for pocket doors.  Don't mind the ugly light fixture - I switched that up last week and am having them flip the ceiling fan blades to the walnut stain rather than oak.  bahaha I am so picky.

Can December 15th come any slower??????????

16 Davis st., Jarvis

So, we have finally listed our temporary house in Jarvis.  I put a lot of work into this house to get it ready for a sale.  I'd love to keep it and rent it out, but Ryan says "neeeooooooo waaaay".  I keep forgetting we are trying to simplify our lives.

Things I will miss about this place:  The huge fenced in yard, the 2 minute walk to the LCBO, and Carley!

Anyway, here are a few pics of the Davis house.

Foyer Before!

A coat of paint can really brighten up a place
I have no idea what this room is supposed to be.  A hanging fixture means dining room, but it has carpeting???  So confused.

Play room it is!
These people loved diarrhea colours.  And it was soooooo dirty.

Some Ikea curtains and cheap ebay curtain rods freshen up the place and look CLEAN!
Gross.

Finally not scared to walk down this hall.  Paint really brightened it up!
kitchen before!

Just needed a fresh coat of paint and some new curtains.  I know I should totally change the light, but I am not dropping another penny into this place!

Grace's Room

James's room.  This room is actually quite big!

The kids bath
Ensuite shower before.  Ewwww, mold

Ensuite before.  So gross.

AFTER!!!  The ensuite bathroom was so gross!!!  New vanity top from Lowes (just $100), a new shower and mirror.

The Master Bedroom.

I hate sleeping on the floor.  I miss my bed :(

The basement.  I ran out of paint (and energy).  Otherwise, I would have painted this room as well.  Mind you, I don't think there is much helping it.
Basement Bath.  New mirror, coat of paint and a good clean

New shower in the basement bath.  The ensuite shower is identical.

Wish us luck.  Fingers crossed it sells.

The Grass Really Is Greener

It finally looks like a home and it's calling my name.
Hopefully the exterior will be completed this week.
-The door needs to be fully painted
-2 more copper fixtures on either side of the door which are backordered until the end of teh week :(
-The copper window top above the dining needs to be installed
-2 shutters need to be painted and installed on both windows at the side of the garage.  Same colour as the front door.

What do you think of my colour choices now that they are in person?  Of course, I have second thoughts about what I chose.  I wish the garage doors were a little darker, but I can paint them.  And I hate the windows.  The praire style is ugly, I should have gone with a more craftsman style, but lesson learned.  The windows were one of the first things I chose.

I also wish I spent more time on the details.  Like I may have the window trim a darker colour where there is stucco, but I chickened out and had them mix it the exact colour of the stucco.

I also wish I the front door was squared off, not arched.  It doesn't match the house.  Nothing is arched...everything is square.  Oh well.  I still wuuuuv my house :)

Lighting

This whole lighting adventure has gone on way too long!!!  I finally made up my mind on these awesome, dramatic black lanterns from Thomasville for the foyer and dining room, but just as my luck goes, I get one in the mail and the other is discontinued.  Back to square one.

Here are my FINAL picks.  They should be delivered Nov. 26th.  We'll see.

Foyer

Dining Room
They better be the same colour when I get them!

And I got 2 of these for above the garage doors.  To match the copper above the dining room window.

And for the grand finale... I got 3 of these for my kitchen from WestElm(.com).  Gorgeous mercury glass pendants.  They make me so happy..heehee

Starting to Take Shape

I am so sick of living out of boxes.  I would do anything to snap my fingers and have the house to be complete....but nooooooo.  They have now extended our closing date from Nov 28th to Dec 15th.  Apparently, the house may be ready in time, but there is no hydro.  Not my builder's fault, but the Developers fault.  Which is making it difficult to receive our compensation.  Maybe I should just ask for free Yin's instead??

I know the stucco looks green...freaked me out at first.  But it's just the primer.  It'll be a nice neutral colour once it's on.
